I’m working on an essay to share with you all, about queer identity, witch identity, and fear. It’s a huge post, massively important to me, and for that reason it will take me a while to write.
In the meantime – It’s been a while since I posted! I’ve been busy working on the website, on opening up the shop, and work + school are both really amping up. Because I don’t quite have the time for a full post, I thought I would round up some of my favorite queer tarot projects, decks, and readers. This is by no means a comprehensive list – if you know of a rad queer tarot project, let me know about it in the comments and I’ll add it to the list!
Let’s dive in!
Little Red Tarot – Ok. There are SO many reasons to visit this blog. Beth is an amazing teacher, and the columns, shop, and alternative tarot course are tremendous resources. Most of you have probably already visited this site, but this list of queer voices in tarot would not be complete without Little Red Tarot.
The Queer Tarot Project – This site is all about stories. Queer tarot readers submit their stories around the tarot, and a card that resonates with them in particular. This is absolutely beautiful.
Queer Street Tarot – I just found out about this project, and I’m so excited about it! Jake is a queer tarot reader who brings in queer theory, and dives deep into identities and helps querents learn more about themselves and their complex identities and sexuality.
Siobhan’s Mirror – Siobhan is absolutely rad. And I mean radical rad. Siobhan focuses on empowerment, tarot readings, facilitation, tarotscopes and more. Check out her fantastic guide to The Lovers card.
Witchy Queers – This is an online directory for all things witchy and queer. Tarot is only one category here – you can also find queer resources for astrology, herbalism, magic and spells, and more! Check out these stories.
Slow Holler Tarot – GUH! This deck is so beautiful. It was created by a collective of artists in North Carolina and the South, and features art that evokes the deep Southern ties of the artists. I preordered my deck, and am so excited to be able to do readings for folks using this deck. Considering all of the horrible legislation that has passed in North Carolina and is sweeping the South right now, this is a super critical time to support queer people there. You can pre-order a deck, or purchase other pieces of art.
Christy C. Road + Michelle Tea’s The Next World Tarot deck – This one is so so so exciting! If you’re into post-apocalyptic punk magic, this one is totally for you.
Trungles – Trung is a fantastic artist who is creating his own tarot deck. The tarot features four different cards for The Lovers, depicting different sexual and gender identities for the partnerships. He was also interviewed on Little Red Tarot, which you can read here.
Cassandra Snow – Here’s another great local tarot reader – she focuses specifically on reading for queer people, and has an inclusive ethic that I absolutely love. Cassandra also writes the Queering the Tarot series over at Little Red Tarot.
Witchling in Flight – A friend of mine, SJ is a queer, disabled, unemployed activist. Xe writes about mental health, tarot, and building a life outside of capitalism.
Girlboss Woo – This project isn’t explicitly about queerness. It’s tarot readings for creative entrepreneurs. But Jeanna’s queer identity is a cornerstone of what she’s doing now, and if you’re an entrepreneur that needs a little more spirit, she’s got you.
Story By Tarot – Fantastic reader and writer – Ashley develops tarot spreads to help you unlock your creative potential.
Big Mouth Tarot – This is another friend of mine. She’s doing some awesome work as a reader in Minneapolis. She doesn’t have a website just yet, but follow on Instagram and Facebook to check out her style.
Again, these are just the queer/LGB/Trans tarot blogs and projects that I love. I know there are many more out there! Give a shoutout in the comments, and I’ll add them to the list. Happy reading!
